-- Community Church of Howey in the Hills has planned the 5th annual Halloween Open House from 7 - 9 p.m. Saturday at the church, 420 N. Palm. There will be treats, games, prizes, refreshments and fun for both kids and grown ups.

-- First United Methodist Church of Clermont has planned a free Trick or Treat family event from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 950 7th St., Clermont. A safe place for your kids to go trick or treating with free food, family photos, live music and car trunks full of candy. For more information, call 394-2412

-- The Outreach Committee of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Clermont will be providing a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner basket to needy families in our community. Everyone interested in helping with this worthwhile endeavor, call St. Matthias Episcopal Church at 394-3855. The church hopes to serve 50 families in the Clermont area. Registration to receive a basket will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2 in the Church's fellowship hall, 574 W. Montrose St., Clermont. Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

-- Real Life Christian Church provides support to community members through a variety of groups and individual settings. All support groups meet at 7 p.m. every Friday at 1501 Steve's Rd., Clermont. One of the following groups is sure to be the one you need:

Life Hurts, God Heals dedicated to the needs of teens suffering from the pain of parents divorcing, rage, drinking, drugs, pornography, eating disorders and more. Parental consent forms and registration are required.

Divorce Care for Women is designed to help women who are struggling with the effects of divorce or separation.

GriefShare addresses the needs of those who have lost a spouse, child, family member or friend and is facilitated by people who understand the grieving process as they have gone through it themselves.

Celebrate Recovery is fellowship and celebration of God's healing power in our lives through the eight recovery principles found in the Beatitudes and Christ-centered 12 steps.

-- Congregation Sinai, a progressive Jewish congregation, has scheduled services at 8 p.m the first, second and final Friday of each month at 303A N Hwy 27, Minneola. Rabbi Cardonick officiates and services will be followed by an Oneg. There are also a religious school, men's club and a women's club available. -- Edge Memorial United Methodist Church has scheduled the Wednesday Connection from 6 - 7:15 p.m for a simple dinner and fun afterward. Do you like to sing? Then stick around because at 7:30 p.m., choir rehearsal begins and new voices are always welcome.

-- Edge Memorial United Methodist Church plans the annual community Harvest Party from 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday. This event has been a long standing tradition at Edge for over 25 years and is the church's way of reaching out to the community to share God's love. To volunteer, sponsor a game or give a monetary donation, call 429-2572.

-- Edge Memorial United Methodist Church's Lighthouse Cafe begins at 11 a.m in the Hill Building across from the church. Experience God's message in a relaxed café' setting, while enjoying a cup of coffee, cold beverage and light snack.

-- Windermere Union Church, United Church of Christ has scheduled the meetings of a Support Group for adoptive and foster parents from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the church, 10710 Park Ridge-Gotha Rd., Windermere, under the guidance of Dr. Walter E. -- Hallelujah Acres monthly support group meets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Monday of each month. Hallelujah Acres is a faith based ministry teaching the principles of healthy eating and wholesome lifestyle from a biblical perspective. -- South Lake Presbyterian Church, working with Meals on Wheels, also offers lunch to seniors from 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday and Thursday. Bingo and other activities are planned. Reservation are required the day before by calling 394-7905.

-- Christian Men in Action, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) group, meets from 8 to 9 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month at New Jacob's Chapel, 410 W. Hwy 50, Clermont. Call Roderick Chapman at 321-537-1906 for more information.

-- Minneola Alliance Church has scheduled special prayer services at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for those individuals who are going through difficult times such as the loss of a job, at the church, corners of Washington St. and Main Ave. For more information, call 394-2028.

-- Edge United Methodist Church has scheduled the Traditional Service at 9:30 a.m. and a Contemporary Service with Adult Sunday school at 11 a.m. Fellowship time with light refreshments is scheduled at10:30 in the Hill building. Nursery services are available for both services.

-- Edge Memorial United Methodist Church tweens and youth meet from 6 to 7 p.m. every Sunday.

-- South Lake Presbyterian Church operates a Food Pantry from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday and Friday for those in the community who might need food. The pantry is in need of donations which may be brought to the church at any time during the week. For more information, call the church office at 394-2753.

-- Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church has scheduled worship services at 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. every Sunday with Sunday School for all at 9 a.m. 13600 Caspian Lane, Clermont.

-- Breakfast with Pastor Jon at 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays at Bob Evans Restaurant, US Hwy 27 near Walmart.

-- Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church has scheduled family friendly, informal worship services at 7 p.m. Wednesday evenings.

-- Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church has a newspaper and magazine recycling container at the entrance to the church grounds. All proceeds from the recycling will benefit the FAITH Neighborhood Center food bank.

-- The Mission of Project Zion of Zion Lutheran Church, 547 S. Main Ave., Groveland, is asking for donations to help assist those neighbors in South Lake County in need of food, aid with prescription costs or help to pay utilities. Project Zion cannot provide long term assistance, but is intended to help in emergencies. Funds received are to help people and hope to make Project Zion a year round mission in keeping with Jesus' appeal to "Feed my Sheep." Call 429-2960 for more information.
